This superb villa is in a quiet residential street in an upmarket part of Puerto del Carmen. One of our most popular Lanzarote villas. Located close to the coastal path which provides a very pleasant walk down to the Old Town harbour. The nearest supermarket, English butcher and restaurant are just a five minute stroll away. The villa is furnished in a modern style with a lovely, spacious lounge/ dining room with doors opening on to the covered terrace and pool area. There is satellite TV and DVD player. The villa now has free wi fi. The very large master bedroom is suitable for an extra bed for a child and has a spacious en-suite bathroom. The double bedroom and twin bedroom room share the modern family shower room. The kitchen is well equipped and has a door through to a spacious utility room which can also be accessed from the patio and is perfect for the storage of beach toys, bikes etc. The outside is perhaps the most important part of a Lanzarote holiday and De Carrida does not disappoint having a range of terraces all offering privacy. The covered porch terrace has distant sea views and comfy wicker chairs – perfect for relaxing with a book and a drink. The raised terrace has a table & chairs and again you can see the sea in the distance and also from here the mountains. The doors from the dining room lead to a terrace which is perfect for your sunbeds and alongside the shaded al fresco dining area with table & chairs and barbecue. Not forgetting the all important pool and surrounding terracing with sunbeds and an umbrella. To help with your luggage we provide a pool towel each. You may not want to move from the villa but if you do won't have to go far!

The Lanzarote Region

Lanzarote is situated just 70 miles off the coast of Africa and is the most easterly of the Canary Islands. The island is 37 miles (60km) long and 12 miles (20 km) wide, making it the fourth largest island in the Canaries.

Lanzarote enjoys a mild dry climate with average daytime temperatures ranging from about 21°C in January to 29°C in August. Annual rainfall is just 140mm (5.5 inches). This makes Lanzarote the perfect year-round destination.

As with the other Canary Islands, Lanzarote is Volcanic in origin. Due to the recent eruptions during the 18th and 19th Centuries, many parts of Lanzarote appear to be from another world, often described as 'lunar' or 'Martian', so much so that parts of 'Planet of the Apes' were shot here. The dry climate (and lack of erosion) means that the Volcanic Landscape appears much as it did just after the eruptions.

Amongst the many stunning Volcanic features of Lanzarote is the longest Volcanic Tunnel in the world, the Atlantida Tunnel, which is over 7 km long and includes the La Cueva de los Verdes and Jameos del Agua.

Despite the Volcanic nature of the island, Lanzarote has several beautiful white beaches such as at Playa Blanca and Papagayo.

Local authority regulations on the amount and style of development mean that there is no billboard advertising and no high rise buildings in Lanzarote (with the exception of the Grand Hotel in Arrecife)

Puerto del Carmen Area

The Old Town is set around the harbour and offers a huge selection of excellent restaurants with freshly caught fish often a speciality. A variety of boat trips can be taken from the harbour including fishing trips and pleasure cruises. There is a Dive school on the Chica beach for the more adventurous.The area is popular for strolling and a popular pastime is watching the men on the water front playing boules in the evenings. The Old Town is well served with shops and the new Biosfere shopping centre hosting such well known names as Zara and Timberland is a pleasure to visit – a good place to cool off on a hot day because it is air conditioned. This villa is located in a very upmarket area of Old Carmen.

You are only a 15 minute walk to Peurto del Carmen, this lively resort has a beach road with shops, bars and restaurants along one side and a wide beach of golden sand with a promenade along the other. There are sunbeds and umbrellas for hire for those who wish to relax or water sports for those who seek more activity. A variety of sports including tennis and squash are available at the sports centre near the Fariones Hotel. The Puerto del Carmen beaches fly the Blue Flag awarded by the EEC for cleanliness and lack of contamination.

Getting There

There are daily flights to Lanzarote with Aer Lingus from Dublin and Cork. This airport is well serviced by charter airlines also.

Car hire is relatively cheap in Lanzarote. A hire car is the best option for discovering the remote wilderness regions. It only takes about 40 minutes to cross the entire island from North to South by car, and about 25 minutes across.

We offer an airport transfer service run by a reliable local company who will meet you at Lanzarote airport. They will transport you by minibus to your villa or apartment. On your departure day, at a pre-arranged time, they will collect you and return back to the airport for your flight home.

Excellent Villa in Carmen. We had an excellent 9 days at Villa De Carrida, having been to Lanzarote many times, found the experience very relaxing. Lanzarote Leisure organised the booking in a professional manner. Sue is an organised and nice person to deal with.

I stayed in this villa and it was great - it was peaceful and secluded, very smartly done and with all the things you need. I was amazed it could be so quiet there, when restaurants, and supermarket were close and the even the harbour's not far! Its a lovely area of town. Definitely recommend it, we'll come back again!

We have visited the Villa three times now and always found the Villa well equipped and confortable. The swimming pool, together with all the outside area is superb The location is perfect as it is in a quiet area yet easy to walk to the Old Harbour Town. All in all a good choice.
