The Aegean Region

Dalyan is located in a delta, on a river that runs into the Mediterranean Sea. Renowned for its natural beauty and idyllic lifestyle, Dalyan has been the focus of many documentaries and movies and is listed as one of the places to visit by National Geographic 'before you die'.
With 3,000 years of history, the Lycian Tombs carved into the cliff face and the ancient city of Kaunos a canoe ride across the river, the town and region are truly spectacular.
Thermal mud baths on Koygeyiz Lake have the highest mineral content in Turkey and are used by locals and visitors alike. A short but beautiful boat trip from Dalyan, you can be swimming and bathing in the lake and the thermal pools. Lake Koygeyiz is an inverted volcano lake with multitudes of bird life and unspoilt beauty.
Boat trips can be taken down the river to the sea, a spectacular journey passing through ancient reed beds, through the fish farm gates to the delta opening into the Mediterranean or go upriver to Lake Koygeyiz and swim in its amazing clear waters.

Dalyan Area

If it is your first visit to Dalyan you will be excited to know that Dalyan is listed in 'Traveller' National Geographic Magazine (Oct 09) as one of the 50 places to visit in your lifetime. The area is listed as an environmental area with many activities such as walking, riding bikes, swimming, boat trips, crabbing, mud baths and Koygeyiz Lake to name a few things on offer. There is also the aspect of it's 3,000 year history and the family will enjoy a boat ride across the river and a walk to the famous 3,000 year old Hittite city of Kaunos.

In 2009 our local beach, Iztuzu Beach, was the first beach in Turkey to have a Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Centre, allowing tourists to visit and see these amazing animals close up. The beach is accessed by a small mini bus running every 15 minutes from the town centre and takes you through magnificent mountain scenery before arriving at a 6km sandy beach. You can also take a boat down the river through the delta to land at the other end of the beach. It truly is one of the unspoilt wonders of the world, winning the European Green Space Award in 2012.

Dalyan has many restaurants to choose from some with magnificent views of the Lycian Tombs carved into the cliff face along the river's edge. There are many shops including clothing, souvenirs, silver, antique and carpet shops to name a few. There are many things to do and see around Dalyan. Boat trips on Koygeyiz Lake and a visit to the mud baths and thermal pools of Sultaniye is a highlight as well as 12 island boat trips swimming in the turquoise blue crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean. Jeep Safari's will take you into the Turkish countryside with swimming in spring water pools and waterfalls, lunch in the mountains on fresh trout and lamb tandir (lamb cooked in pottery in a wood fired oven).

Guest Book

We have just returned from a week in villa Ruby. It was perfect. The villa is tastefully decorated, spacious and has everything you could need for your stay. It was spotlessly clean. A lovely swimming pool just outside, perfect for my 7 year old as not too deep and he learnt to swim this week! The teenagers loved the pool too. There is so much to do in the area, a week was not long enough and we would think about returning, which is unusual for us as we normally like to go to a different place each year. Sue and Nev were on hand, very helpful with suggestions and with booking. One of our best ever holidays!!! Thank you so much. Family from Sidcup, United Kingdom August 2015

No disappointments here. The villa was perfect as was the location - peaceful with just a leisurely stroll into the town either along the road or beside the river. Sue and Nev were at hand if ever needed and a great help to us throughout our stay. We would recommend this villa and would definitely book again. Family from Blandford, United Kingdom October 2014

We have visited Dalyan many times over the last 20 years more recently staying at a friends villa. As this has now been sold Villa Ruby came into play. The best compliment I can pay is that it felt like home. Though we spent most of our time outdoors the villa is well proportioned and furnished with everything you need. Susan and Nev were deilghtful and helpful hosts. Not too far from the centre of town, just far enough to walk off some of the kokerec. Will choose Villa Ruby as our first choice in Dalyan next time.
