The Algarve Region

Portugal’s southernmost region known as the Algarve has established itself as a firm favourite holiday destination for people from all over Europe as well as the rest of the world. This is due mainly to its almost tropical climate boasting over 3000 hours of annual sunshine. With its stunning long sandy beaches, majestic cliff facings, secret coves and caves contrasting with the inland of mountains, almond blossom covered hills and quaint hidden towns the Algarve has something to offer for everyone.

There are many major attractions for all the family to enjoy including Zoo Marine (where you can swim with the dolphins), horse riding on the beach and some brilliant fun filled water parks all within a half hour drive of the house - Aqualand and Slide & Splash being the most popular. The parks all provide buses that will transfer you to and from the Parks.
Locally there is golfing, tennis, horse riding and a sports facility. If you want to get away from the coast for the day then a drive to Monchique and Foia (the highest point of the Algarve) is highly recommended. On the way you could visit the castle in Silves and stop for lunch of chicken Piri-Piri in the small mountain town of Monchique. It will take you less than an hour to get there.

Two large shopping centres are 'Algarve Shopping' in Guia and 'The Forum' in Faro just 20-30 minutes by car. The Algarve Shopping is a large mall which is approx. 15 minutes drive away. Here you will find a variety of shops, a big supermarket, a bowling alley, a multi-screen cinema (most films are in English with Portuguese sub titles) and a food hall.

Alternative ways of exploring the Algarve are by joining one of the many jeeps that head out each day (high season) to explore the unspoilt Algarve. This is a great day out for the family and will pick up and drop off in the area.

As Acoteias is ideally situated between Vilamoura and Albufeira there are plenty of great boat trips leaving from both Albufeira and Vilamoura marinas every day. You can choose from a full or a half day and this can often include a trip into the caves and grottoes of the beautiful Algarvian coast line. If you fancy a drive into Spain then the border is only a 50 minute drive and Seville approx two hours depending on traffic.

As the Algarve spans a large area with wonderful sights and attractions, car hire is highly recommended to explore, but not essential for this villa as there are a number of good restaurants and bars within walking distance and the beach is a 5-6 minute walk away. Taxis are reasonably priced. Transfers can also be arranged for you if requested.

 

Albufeira Area

Acoteias is a picturesque little village with a tranquil feel and touches of traditional Portugal dotted throughout its centre. Acoteias enjoys the best of both worlds; it has retained its traditional air and charm whilst still being close enough to enjoy all of the benefits of the nearby, more developed areas, such as Albufeira and Sao Joao which are 6KM away and Vilamoura 10KM.

Acoteias village is just a few minutes by car or a pleasant 10 minute walk from the house and has a large selection of restaurants, bars, shops and a bank. There is a fantastic selection of restaurants to choose from in traditional Portuguese, Sea food, Italian, Chinese and Sushi.

For those not wishing to travel too far there is a supermarket, bars, newsagent and restaurants located 100mts from the house cross in the little square of Falesia. This is a great little square and is perfect for dining al fresco or having a drink whilst the children are free to play. In the high season they also have a bouncy castle as well as quad bikes for the kids to hire.

Just 400 meters away is the award winning (blue flag) Falesia Beach with its stunning red rock cliffs and golden sands beach. The longest beach in the Algarve, it offers a great choice of facilities including parasols and sun beds. The beach is ideal for walkers and there are also a number of bars and restaurants offering various mouth watering cuisines to suit all tastes including fantastic fresh sea food.

In nearby Albufeira there are an abundance of restaurants and bars with something to suit all tastes. Olhos d'Agua also offers a good choice. Further along the coast you will come to Vilamoura (about 15 minutes) which hosts 5 award winning golf courses. Here there is also a lively marina with lots of restaurants, bars, shops and where you can pick up many water borne day trips e.g. fishing and sailing.

There are many high quality golf courses within a ten minute drive of the accommodation. The closest is the neighbouring Sheraton Pine Cliffs Golf Course which includes the famous 'Devils Parlour'. Close by is a range of courses at Vilamoura including the Millennium, Laguna, Victoria and Vilamouras' Old Course. There is also a golf academy and driving range.
All in All Falesia is a great Family Resort here in the Algarve with all amenities on the door step – sure to be a firm favourite with everyone!

 

Getting There

Low cost flights available from most of the regional airports to Faro as well as scheduled flights from the main airports.
Transfer time from airport approx. 40 minutes by car.
Fly to Lisbon Airport and drive to Algarve - transfer time approx. 2.5 hours.

We can arrange car hire available from Faro Airport. Directions to the Apartment will be provided on confirmation of booking, the route is well sign posted. (Car hire is not essential for this property).

The gardens are beautifully landscaped and maintained to a high standard by Pine Sun Park's own staff. There is a modern Children’s play area, which is next to the pitch and putt golf area for those who want to practice whilst the kids enjoy themselves. The 2 swimming pools are for Pine Sun Park guests only and have ample sun loungers even during peak season! The terraces all contain patio furniture so you can choose the perfect heat or shade to suit you mood throughout the day. Tennis courts available to hire beside apartment. Just a 10 minute walk to the award winning beach of Falesia. One of the finest and longest beaches in the Algarve, backed by low red and white sandstone cliffs and pine woods. For the serious beach walkers you can walk into Vilamoura and beyond. The cliff top walk provides wonderful views of Falesia beach and surrounding countryside.

Guest Book

We all had a fantastic holiday. Sunshine every day and and very hot. The beach is lovely and the sea lovely to swim in and body board. The pool was great to relax around also. The little centre across the road has everything you need - plenty of restaurants and a good supermarket. It was very plesant to stroll around in the evening - not to crowded but enough going on. The chidren enjoyed the the go-carting and bouncy castle.
Thank you it has definitely been one of the best family holidays.

We have had a wonderful holiday. The house is so new and has everything we needed for our family holiday - not that we stayed in much!! The weather has been superb. Beach lovely and clean. Would recommend the Piri Piri Pine Cliffs Restaurant for a fabulous meal. We went to Vilamoura and it was lovely at night. We are feeling sad to leave, wished we had come for longer - we will definitely come back agin in the future!
