The Austrian Alps - Salzburgerland Region

Leogang is a beautiful alpine village just 1 hour from Salzburg. Easy to reach by road or rail, it offers a wonderful base for exploring the region. Close by is the town of Zell am See with the super lake offering a host of water based activities, and great shopping opportunities. Kaprun is just a few minutes further away and the Ktzsteinhorn Glacier is open for most of the year, allowing for snow sure skiing .The historic cities of Salzburg and Innsbruck are also both within easy reach.
There are so many opportunities for sightseeing within a short drive. The famous Gross Glockner mountain pass, Krimml Waterfalls, The Ice Caves. Salt Mines and Bertchesgaden ( Eagles Nest ), to name but a few.
Leogang itself is a winter paradise for winter sport. The nature of the landscape and valley formation allow for snow sure conditions usually from the beginning of opening season ( End November/December ) to the end of season around the middle or end of April. The North facing slopes to the village make it possible to ski home all the way even when thaw conditions are being experienced elsewhere. There are excellent ski and snow board schools and our guests receive a 10% reduction on any snow sport equipment rental.

 

Leogang Area

Obviously in winter snow sports are the main attraction. Ski and snowboarders can enjoy miles of linked prepared pistes. The Ski Circus is linked all the way from Leogang to Saalbach and Hinterglemm, and the local area pass covers the whole valley region. There is a very good ski kindergarden which looks after young children either in a creche or outside in the Kinderland snow area. In the evenings Leogang offers evening skiing, snow shows at the top of the mountain, and floodlit tobbogan runs.
For the non skier, winter hiking, snow shoe walking, sleigh rides,cross country skiing are all available.

In summer our guests receive the free Lowen Card, which allows free access to 3 local outdoor swimming pools, 3 cable cars, a chair lift, free daily guided walking programme and a free daily childrens supervise activity programme. There are also many other discounted entrance fees at many local and regional attractions.
The nearby town of Saalfelden hosts the famous 3 day Jazz Festivel every August attracting musicians from the world over, and in January the village of Hochflizen nearby , hosts the World Biathalon Championships.
In June 2010 and 2011 Leogang hosted the World Cup Mountain Bike championships, and in August/September 2011 will hold the 2 week World Championship Mountain Bike event. The Bike park having now established itself as one of the very best in Europe adrenalin junkies can be assured of a good time. Pony riding is available in the village and
a little further afield it is possible to enjoy white water rafting, canyoning, climbing,quad biking, go karting,and of course golf.

Flights to Salzburg from UK with Ryanair, Easy Jet, British Airways, Jet 2,Air Berlin, and Aer Lingus from Dublin
Flights to Munich with Aer lingus from Dublin and Cork

We can arrange car hire at Salzburg airport -1 week small car with full insurance and winter tyres from € 149.
Taxi transfer available, approx € 100 each way if pre-booked( More if picking up a taxi at the airport )
Train to Saalfelden ( Nearest main station 7Km away) from Salzburg main Railway station. Post-Bus from airport to Saalfelden.

The swimming pool and tennis court are located 100 mtrs from the house . They are free for our guests to use in Summer.
Bicycles are available for rental in the village.
2 small childrens scooters are available for our guets to use free.

 

Rental Details

The garden and all facilities described are available to all guest to share.
The sauna is available 5 X weekly in winter and free of charge. In summer the sauna can be booked for private use and a charge is made.
The solarium and table football is coin operated.
There is a washing machine available and a charge is made for use of this facility.
Towels ( but not Sauna towels ) are provided and included in the apartment cost. Sauna towels and bath robes can be rented for the duration of the holiday.
Our house is NON SMOKING throughout. Smoking is only permitted on the balcony.

Each of the 2 bedrooms has an Austrian style double bed - ( 2 mattress in a boxed base with seperate bed linen for each bed )
there is also a chair which converts to a single bed ideally suitable for children and teenagers.
In the kitchen/sitting room there is a double sofa bed.
Both bedrooms have a door leading onto the large balcony.
A further adjoining unit can be combined with Apartment Sonnrain -offering a third double bedroom and a sofa bed, also 1.5 bathrooms this makes the apartment suitable for even larger groups.
