The Algarve Region

The Algarve enjoys a moderate climate all year round. Plenty of sun. The gentle sea breeze prevents the Algarve of suffering the humidity of northern Europe in the summer months. There is plenty to see. Just a 2 hour drive from Alvor takes you to Lisbon the capital of Portugal and 2 hours drive in the other direction takes you over the boarder into southern Spain.

Portimao is the closest main town to Alvor and is filled with larger shops and restaurants. Its also known for its leather shops. Another town close by is Praia de Rocha. There is a regular bus service to these towns every 10 mins during the day and every 15/20 mins in the evening from Alvor village.

Portugals answer to Mizen Head is Cape St. Vincent which is approx. 45 mins. from Alvor. On the way why not visit the town of Lagos with its magnificant marina and lovely pier walk.

 

Alvor Area

Alvor is a classic old fishing village. Narrow cobbled stoned streets lead you down to the beautiful beach and harbour which has many cafe/bars. The streets are a maze of shops, restaurants, cafes and bars. With very child friendly restaurants and bars that stay open late this resort has plenty for couples and families to enjoy.
Alvor beach caters for all water sports and has numerous beachside restaurants. There is a skydiving centre close by complete with a cafe to sit and watch.

There is plenty for families to do close by. For example there is Zoo Marine, Slide and Splash as well as visiting the many beaches that are around the area. Many of these tours can be booked at reception. Along the harbour walk there are several boat trips available. eg. to see the dolphins, the caves, fishing trips and around the coast to the historic village of Silves. These boat trips are available during the day and in the evening from April to October, booking for these boat trips are made at the harbour.

For the golf lover you are spoilt for choice. Within a 15/20 min. drive there are at least 7 courses to chose from. e.g. The Alto Golf,{walking distance around the corner from the apartment} Penina Golf, Morgado, Palmeres, Boavista and Pestana Pinta. Getting There

Fly to Faro from Dublin or Cork on either Aer Lingus or Ryan Air and from Belfast with Easyjet or Ryan Air. British Airways fly to Faro from London Gatwick, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester, Newcastle upon Tyne, Aberdeen and Belfast. Easy Jet fly to Faro from Bristol , East Midlands, Glasgow, Liverpool, London Luton and Stansted and Newcastle. Ryan Air also fly from Leeds and Bournemouth . The flight time is approx. 2 hours 30 mins. Rates are competitive especially if booked well in advance (six months)
Alvor is about 40 mins drive from the airport.
Hire a car or travel by Taxi. There is a Taxi service available for our clients at special rates. Contact owner for details.
Try Budget Car Hire at the airport. Advance booking advised. Rates are very reasonable.
It is not necessary to rent a car as everything is accessible on foot from the apartment.

Around the swimming pools there are beautiful gardens, sun loungers and showers. The swimming pools are supervised during high season July and August. The restaurant/snack bar is open daily from 8am until midnight. There is also a bar and a beer garden on site. During high season there is also a bus service from the complex to the beach. The beach is also within walking distance to the beach from the apartment approx.10/12 mins.

 

Rental Details

A 20% deposit is required on booking and the balance to be paid 8 weeks prior to arrival. A refundable deposit of E200 is also required and repaid within 2 weeks of departure., subject to a full and thorough report back from our property manager. When you arrive your apartment is clean with fresh towels and bed linen. While you are there you will have a change of towels and a mini-clean mid week. If you are staying for two weeks a repeat full clean and mini-clean will take place. We give great attention to the following, comfort, high standard of cleanliness and hygiene. Cots / High chairs available on request.
Cancellation Policy: Through to your arrival date we will refund 50% of your deposited funds unless we can rent out the apartment for approximately the same time period. If we can rent the apartment for roughly the equivalent dates, we will refund all but E200.
NB. Off season rentals from November to the end of March are plus services. e.g. Maid service, electricity and water charges and meet and greet service. Please contact owner for further details. A laundry service is close by ideal for the likes of bed linen and towels. These services are exceptionally well priced. Off season rental prices are for long term lets only, e.g. 1,2,3,4 & 5 months rental periods only. Short term 1 and 2 week rental rates price on application, long term off season rental prices do not apply. For further details again contact owner.

We have sky satellite tv installed, and there are Disney channels for children, with a LCD flat screen television and cinema system, and we also have internet access.(120mbs) broadband cable and Wi-Fi This internet access is free of charge but we are not responsible if a breakdown occures bearing in mind that this service is free of charge. There is a cot and high chair in the apartment. Use of internet, cot and high chair are free of charge to clients. No video games of any sort are permitted on the LCD tv.

This is an exquistite apartment extending a warm welcome through its modern facilities and services. It is situated close to the village of Alvor with its manhy excellent restaurants and to the safe sandyh beaches that stretch for miles. The Apartment
Located on the Second Floor but the steps are easy to manage even with heavy suitcases and small children. The apartment is bright, tastefully decorated and well maintained all the while remaining child friendly. It contains all the handy extras, washing machine, iron, hair dryer, travel cot and high chair in addition to beach/pool toys.
The kitchen is very well equipped for those who enjoy cooking and picnics –helps with keeping costs down. It is exactly as advertised which is rare!
Norman and Anne are very accommodating and provided advice, useful information pre travel, their property managers were welcoming, available and checked in mid week for a towel change and bathroom/floor clean – a lovely treat.
The Complex
Handy if expensive on site Spar, a children’s play area for the young ones, a well maintained pool which is unheated so a bit too chilly in early season.
The Locality
5 minutes walk down the hill from the complex are a range of places to eat, bars and shops, including a small supermarket. The Pizzeria was very good value with friendly staff. However for eating out would advise making the short 10min drive/taxi ride to the old town/port of Alvor where the quality and choice of restaurants is far superior.
Overall we had a great holiday – this apartment and location makes an easy holiday for families, the beaches are clean, safe and have eating/toilet facilities if needed. The locals are friendly and accommodating particularly to children. A car is an added bonus to access the many things to do/places to see, however good bus service and many taxis mean it is not a necessity.
Apartment C really felt like a nice home away from home and we would return without hesitation.
