Set in about an acre of garden the chalet has stunning south-facing views across the village to the slopes. Conveniently located, it is about a 2 min walk to the InterSport and stumbling distance from the pretty centre with its many local shops, bars and restaurants. The chalet further benefits from off-street parking for up to 4 cars and the use of a garage if necessary.
This apartment can be taken as an entire 6 bed chalet sleeping 12 (or 13 including the baby cot).

History

Geography
Mont Blanc and Lake Annecy are located in Haute-Savoie. To the North, Haute-Savoie borders on Switzerland, with Geneva as the closest major town, and Lake Geneva. The town of Évian-les-Bains is the most famous town on the French shore of Lake Geneva, well-known around the world for its mineral water Evian. To the east, Haute-Savoie borders Italy and to the west the department of Ain.
Samoens Area
Samoëns is a picturesque 17th century Alpine village in the Haute Savoie region of France, under an hours drive from Geneva (providing you don't get lost!)
Samoëns, is an attractive historic Alpine village near Mont-Blanc. It is the only resort classified by the Caisse des Monuments Historiques. There is a wide variety of shops, and restaurants to suit every need. Its stunning scenery provides the perfect backdrop to all year round mountain activities.
Samoëns is a real working community with a Wednesday market where visitors can enjoy Savoyard traditions. With beautiful restaurants serving gourmet, traditional and local dishes.
Samoëns provides access to excellent skiing. With the opening of the new Grand Massif Express in 2004, one can climb 1600m in 8 minutes. Le Grand Massif provides 265 kms of pistes ranging from 700m - 2500m with 3 board parks and 80 ski lifts taking you to Morillon, Les Carroz, Flaine and Sixt. Le Grand Massif benefits from a microclimate which has given Samoëns a fantastic snow record. Samoëns is a beautiful village and the only ski resort in France to be listed in the French National Office of Historic Monuments.
The impressive Grand Massif mountain range surrounding Samoëns provides an excellent setting for Winter and Summer activities. With its own botanical gardens of Alpine plants, the Giffre River running through the valley and the many lakes, it makes the picturesque village of Samoëns well worth a visit any time of year!

Skiing & Snowboarding
Samoëns is part of the Grand Massif, one of the most exhilarating skiing and snowboarding areas in Europe. Not many places offer such a wide variety, and very few have such fantastic panoramic views over Mont Blanc.

Tobogganing
If you and the family are looking for a more gentle day in the snow, there are plenty of tobogganing slopes fenced off from the main pistes. Equipment is easily hired locally and readily available from local ski hire locations
Paragliding
This can be arranged locally and is a fantastic and exhilarating way to see Samoëns in winter and summer.
Ice Climbing
Ice climbing, to rock climbing and potholing , even in the middle of an Alpine winter. The world’s largest known pothole, the Mirolda (1, 733 metres), is just a few kilometres from Samoëns on the side of the Criou mountain. It’s also possible to ski the Vallée Blanche,down a glacier to Chamonix.
Ice Skating
Samoëns also has an outdoor covered ice rink which is open from the beginning of November to April.

Potholing & Rock Climbing
For the adventurous with the world’s largest known pothole, the Mirolda (1, 733 metres), is just a few kilometres from Samoëns on the side of the Criou mountain, which towers above the town. Arrangments can easily be made with the Samoëns tourist office; introductory courses are available.
Mountain Biking
A great way to see the stunning local scenery of Samoëns and it's surronding area. Equipment hire is available locally and with summer daytime temperatures averaging over 20C in June and over 25C in July/August, it's an ideal location.
Walking
For mountain walking enthusiasts there is the GR 5 trans-Europe trail local to the chalet. There are also numerous mountain refuges and gîtes to discover.
In addition there is fishing, swimming and a whole host of watersports available within easy reach of Chalet Myrtle.

By Car
Motorway A40 Genève / Chamonix. Take Exit to Cluses - Scionzier, Samoëns is about 20 minutes from there.
When arriving in Samoens, head towards the centre of the village. At the first main roundabout, take the third exit bearing sharp right. Follow the road passing Les Glaciers Hotel on your right and turn right past Bank Populaire. Follow the road up the hill past the InterSport on your right. You are now on Rue de la Piaz. We are apx. the third turning on the right with the name BURT on the postbox and a garage. Welcome!

Car Hire from Geneva Airport
NB: You land in Switzerland so ensure you have your passports to hand in case they ask to see them at the border. Ensure that you hire your car from the Swiss side of the airport ; you must specify this when booking your hire car. This way your hire car will have a special sticker which will mean you can avoid paying the one-off extra fee at the border when crossing back into Switzerland at the end of your holiday.
