SIPTU Wants Terminal 2 Opening Postponed

SIPTU’s Branch at the Dublin Airport Authority has requested the DAA to delay the unveiling of Terminal 2 until passenger traffic returns to what it called ‘realistically feasible levels.’

Currently, unions and management at the DAA are convening to negotiate a cost savings plan. SIPTU has emphasized that passenger numbers until May of this year have decreased by 11%. And with such a decrease in travel flow, it would be impractical to expedite the opening of Terminal 2.

In response, the DAA is foreseeing a shortfall of up to €70m and is aiming to introduce a cost savings of up to €55m.
