Best Things to Do in Lagos

The historic walled town of Lagos is situated on the Western Algarve. Lagos is an excellent destination for travellers looking to stay in a more authentic town, with cultural attractions and visits combined with a great beach and smaller towns to visit close by. If you are visiting the Algarve for a beach holiday, Lagos is an excellent choice. Close by are the beautiful coves of Praia de Dona Ana and Praia de Porto Mos, and Meia Praia, a 4km golden sandy stretch of beach.

Explore Ponta da Piedade

Located on south of Lagos, Ponta da Piedade is a group of spectacular rock formations including beautiful rock arches, caves and grottoes. Ponta da Piedade is a must-see activity when you are in Lagos or in the Algarve region. You can get to Ponta da Piedade from Lagos by car, which is about 10 minutes’ drive from Lagos centre. Ponta da Piedade can also be reached by walk, which is about 30 minutes’ walk from Lagos. As well as by foot and car you can also get to Ponta da Piedade stunning rock formations on one of the many paddle and kayak tours available in Lagos. If you are not in the active mood, you can also see Ponta da Piedade from the comfort of a boat. Praia Dona Ana

Located in south of Lagos and near Ponta da Piedade, Praia Dona Ana is regarded as one of the best beaches in Lagos. Surrounded by beautiful sand colour cliffs and with clear blue calm waters it offers stunning scenery that you would probably like to enjoy all day long. Praia Dona Ana can get very busy in the summer months so we advise to go early to ensure you enjoy this amazing beach.

Praia Porto De Mos

With 4km of sandy beach Porto de Mos is one of the largest beaches in Lagos. Located amidst cliffs and with clear blue water this beach is much larger than Praia Dona Ana, which allows for a quieter atmosphere while you can still enjoy the beautiful and distinctive cliff scenery that the Algarve coast offers.

Meia Praia

With over 4km of sandy beach Meia Praia is the largest beach in Lagos. Meia Praia is a long golden sandy beach that allows for space and quiet. The beach is well equipped with palm tree umbrellas, sunbeds and nearby restaurant. On this beach, you will experience quiet and comfort all at once.

Lagos to Luz Hike

Walking from Porto de Mos beach in Lagos to Praia da Luz is a very popular activity with locals and no wonder why- it’s an easy sunny route with stunning views along the Algarvian coastline. The route from Lagos starts with a big hill, which is the most difficult part of the hike to then steady for the rest of the way. Luz beach has some beautiful restaurants where you will be able to get a well-deserved snack after your hike.
