The Algarve Region
Evolving over the years from a small fishing village to become a favourite family villa holiday destination.Village life centres on the small sandy cove which comes alive at night, with plenty of bars, restaurants and live entertainment. With three golf courses and many sandy loved beaches Carvoeiro offers something for everyone.
Admire the coastline on a Boat Trip
Admire the coastline and the grottoes. Book a boat trip to explore the caves along the coast between Carvoeiro and Benagil directly from Carvoeiro beach. The local fishermen who run the boats on the beach in Carvoeiro can be found if you head down to the beach and then look to the left near to the showers. Most of the men in charge of the boats speak some English and will be able to do a full safety brief before setting off either on a modern boat or on one of the much photographed traditional painted boats that you see on the beach all year around..
Boats can take up to nine people at a time depending on which one you opt for and the trips take either one hour or one hour and 20 minutes. The hour boat trip takes you along as far as Carvalho beach and you are able to explore the coast line all the way along to this point. The longer trip takes you to Benagil and as far as the largest cave along this stretch of coastline.
Stroll along Carvoeiro Beach
The craggy cliffs, calm waters and location in the centre of Carvoeiro make this beach a favourite. Being the hub of the town this beach is popular with people staying in the area looking for a gentle walk onto the sand, with young families who want to avoid the perils of steps onto a beach and locals who come down before or after work for a quick dip. Toilets and shower facilities are free for beach users to make the most of and there is a small beach hut selling beach essentials such as ice creams and drinks. Simply lay down your towel on the sand or hire a lounger and shade if you are there for the day.
There is also the opportunity to take a boat trip around the caves from the beach or to take part in water sports during the high season. This beach can get very busy during the summer months but do not be tempted to sunbathe under the cliffs as the warning signs clearly state that this is dangerous.A family favourite that still retains its charms and is a must for photographers looking to capture a perfect Algarve sunset over the cliffs.
