Vilamoura is the name given to an area rather than the town. It is one of the largest tourist resorts in Europe and covers over two thousand hectares of land. Due to it's size it offers the visitor nearly every form of sport and entertainment. It's southern side is fringed with sandy beaches broken up by extraordinary rugged red cliffs and fantastic grottoes, bordering the Atlantic ocean. Within the centre there is a preserved Roman site and a Museum which provide a glimpse into the past of this area.The Marina at Vilamoura is one of the largest private ports in Europe. It is a bustling area with numerous restaurants, bars and shops. A perfect place to stroll around, dine and watch the world go bye. Boat trips and fishing excursions may be booked from the Marina.
