Ryanair returns to Fuerteventura with 10 new routes from March 2010

Ryanair confirmed that it will operate 10 Fuerteventura routes from March 2010 to/from Bournemouth, Brussels (Charleroi), Dublin, Dusseldorf (Weeze), Frankfurt (Hahn), Glasgow (Prestwick), Liverpool, Madrid, Milan (Bergamo) and Pisa. These routes will deliver 300,000 new passengers and create 300 new jobs at Fuerteventura.

Ryanair also announced the extension of its Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and Tenerife routes to its summer 2010 schedule after the local government confirmed that its airport discount scheme will continue until at least March 2012. Ryanair will operate 53 Canary Island routes this summer with 300 weekly flights delivering growth to tourism, jobs and the economy of the Canary Islands.

Ryanair celebrated its return to Fuerteventura and the continuation of the route development discount scheme by extending its 500,000 €5 January seat sale, for travel on Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursdays, until midnight Sunday (20th Dec) on www.ryanair.com .

Speaking in Fuerteventura today, Ryanair’s Michael Cawley said:

“Ryanair is delighted to return to Fuerteventura with 10 new routes and to extend our existing Canary Islands routes to our summer 2010 schedule to  deliver even more low fares, competition and choice to consumers/visitors of the Canary Islands.

Ryanair’s 10 Fuerteventura routes will see Ryanair offer 53 routes to the Canary Island this summer which will deliver over 2.3 million passengers and sustain 2,300 Canary Island jobs. We commend the local government’s decision to protect its vital tourism industry, jobs and the Canary Island economy with the extension of the hugely successful airport charges discount scheme. We are confident that in the current climate of reduced traffic and tourism in Spain the Spanish Government will see the wisdom of extending low airport costs throughout Spain.”
