When Conor and Paula Irwin, both dentists, bought their house in 1998, they immediately saw the potential in the old farm buildings to convert them into luxurious holiday homes in the heart of the Royal County. With three small children themselves, they realised that hotels do not always suit the needs of families on holiday . Arranged in a beautifully restored courtyard, these eight unique holiday homes, can sleep from two to eight people. They are fitted out and decorated to the highest standard with all bedrooms ensuite, marble or oak floors throughout and spacious living accommodation downstairs with granite worktops in the kitchens. For those tourists with an environmental conscience, all hot water and heating comes from a geothermal heat source, and recycling is actively encouraged. All the houses overlook the architecturally landscaped courtyard, which is, by the way a car free zone making it extremely safe for families with young children. Families or groups of friends can enjoy the use of The Den – which has a games room , TV and book/DVD library, board games, pool table and also a gym. The obvious attractions of Tara, Newgrange, Trim and Slane Castles are literally on your doorstep here, but there is far more then this on offer. These holiday homes form an ideal base for so many other activities. There are a wealth of excellent, championship golf courses in the area, great fishing on the Boyne, beaches within 25 mins drive, and several race courses only a short drive away.
