Les Granges (change-over Saturdays) - Sleeps 6, Cottage No. 2 Sleep 8, Cottage No. 6 Sleep 7.
Nine cottages in a mews formed by two long XVIIth century stone barns with their original oak beams, renovated and converted over the years to form comfortable family holiday accommodation. These all have the same spacious open plan layout downstairs.

5 Farmyard Cottages overlooking the second swimming pool, A converted XVIIth stone barn, these cottages combine the charm of old beams and stone walls with the advantages of modern building and design techniques. All the cottages offer the same spacious open plan layout throughout and have a private terrace with BBQ.
Upstairs: En-suite double bedroom, beds 1.60m. A second shower room with WC, a twin bedroom and a third bedroom with 2 bunk beds.

The Charente Maritime Region

The region is the second sunniest in France.
The coast is only 40 mins drive, offering great beaches and the historic towns of La Rochelle, Rochefort and Royan, ETC...

The coast is also full of surprises and steeped in history: The nearest coastal town is Rochefort, built as the arsenal of the French Navy in the 14 - 18th centuries.

There are several travel choices to get here: only 5 mins from the A10 motorway; 7 hours from Calais, 4-5 hours from Caen, or just 1 hour from La Rochelle aiport.
Some suggestions for a day trip:

. La Rochelle, one of France’s best known ports.
. Futuroscope, a unique theme park near Poitiers.
. Cognac, the town and the liquid.
. Palmyre Zoo, one of the finest in Europe.
. Ile d’Oleron and Ile de Ré, where the French jet scene are to be seen eating oysters.
. Rochefort, steeped in Naval history.
. Venise Verte, a unique naturists paradise to be visited in a punt.
. Royan, with excellent beaches and restaurants.
. Hire an electric boat on the Charente river.

St Jean DAngely Area

15 mins walk from your cottage, past the lake, and you are in the centre of the historic town of St Jean D’angely with its covered market, cafes and over a dozen restaurants to choose from.
2 mins walk:
. Atlantys aquatic centre –a covered complex with pools, slides, sauna, hammam, etc.
. Adventure Park for toddlers, mini-golf, Canoeing and pedalos on the lake.

And within 10 mins drive:
. Horse riding
. Tennis
. Hot-air ballooning

Within 1 hour's drive:
. Miles of sandy beaches and many historic towns: Royan, La Rochelle, Rochefort, Cognac.
. Golf – courses at Saintes, Niort and Cognac.
And for the less active, we offer sunbeds, a library, pool table, bar and rotisserie, comfortable beds and a wide choice of restaurants – some within walking distance.

The region is typically French in every way, including a superb local market in St Jean on Wednesdays and Saturdays .

Along the river Boutonne, you find small ports and villages with cafés, restaurants and boat hire.

The area is known for its Cognac and Pineau and also produces some excellent wines for warm summer evenings.

Fly to Bordeaux with Ryanair or Aer Lingus from Dublin, EasyJet from Gatwick or Bristol, RyanAir from Stanstead, Dublin, Cork, Brussels, Oslo.
Lots of flights available from the UK with BMI baby or BA, Jet 2 from Edinburgh and Leeds. FlyBe from Southampton, Birmingham and Manchester.
Ferry available from Rosslare to Le Harve

2 swimming pools, the large pool is heated from end of May - September. The restaurant and bar open beginning of July to end of August.
