The Costa Calida/Almeria Region

The Costa Almeria enjoys the best climate on mainland Spain with the most hours of sunshine throughout the year. On avarage 300 days per year and more hours of daylight than anywhere else. This South Eastern corner of Spain is blessed with the ideal holiday climate.
Known as the Romantic Coast. This area is virtually unspoilt unlike the other Costas ,no high rise buildings or over deveopment is permitted. Most of the new buildings are only 2 story high and in the Moorish style,so although Mojacar Playa has wide sandy beaches ,and plenty of nightclubs, discos, bars and a wide range of cusines in lots of restaurants it is stylish and quite typically Spanish.
.To the east of Almeria we find the rugged and desolate coast of the Cabo de Gata - Nijar natural park. This is an arid desert landscape and the annual rainfall here is less than 200mm. It is sparsely populated, few villages and a very low population density. Visitors feel a sense of exploration here as many of the coves can only be reached on foot.

Mojacar Pueblo , 3 kilometres fromm the playa is a white hillside village, with houses clinging, seemingly, impossibly to the hillside, narrow streets with promises of secrets round every corner and wonderful flowerbedecked restaurants and tapas bars. You will feel the the strong sense of history and fall in love with its amazing charm.

At the north of the Costa de Almeria is the naturist beaches of Vera, a number of new complexes are being constructed here.
Almeria city is worth a visit with the Alcazaba castle overlooking the metropolis

 

Mojacar Area

Mojacar is situated in the South East of Spain, the sunniest part, with its 18 kilometres of unspoilt golden beaches (many Blue Flag)The romantic Moorish village overlooks the Playa with its wide selection of shops bars, beach bars and restaurants offering superb value. For golf lovers there are three courses nearby with full hire facilities including the unique Dessert Springs course. Ideal as a family destination, get away from it all or an exciting activity filled holiday Mojacar is waiting to welcome you.

Mojacar Puelo and Playa 'the best kept secret' Whatever you are looking for Mojacar will charm you. Its easy to see why Artists and Writers have been captivated by the area for centuries. Mojacar Village with its wonderful history, Moorish architecture, unsurpassable views and its dramatic backdrop of the Cabrera Mountains. Spectacular Fiestas , such as the annual 'Moors and Christians' where enactments take place on the beaches and up in the village, the whole popluation revelling in the past.....the unforgettable costumes as they parade down to the Playa. Or just the day to day charms, the wonderful restaurants offering international cuisine and traditional tapas bars hidden down winding streets no wider than a donkey! Coffee (served with the traditional pastry)on the Terrace high,high above the plains.The weekly 'Market,' where the freshest fruit and vegtables are offered for sale by the growers, handcrafts, leathergoods and all manner of items are available as they have been for hundreds of years.

GOLF we are situated quite close to some wonderful courses, the nearest is 10 minute drive away and DESERT SPRINGS is nearby, the Desert in EuropeAND VAL D'ESTE ARE ABOUT AN HOUR AWAY

 

Getting There

Aer Lingus and Ryanair along with most carriers fly to Alicante or Murcia .
The motorways are nearly empty so its a pleasant drive south to the gorgeous Costa Almeria.
Almeria has a fine modern airport served by an ever expanding nymber of scheduled and charter flights. Ryanair and Easyjet have flights to Almeria from Gatwick and Stansted,


Distances : Almeria - (1hr drive) Alicante (2 hour almost empty motorway drive).

Thank you for allowing us to stay in your lovely property, it was just what we needed ,we had everything we could possibly need and there was plenty of room for all of us ...it felt like our private villa with a pool in the garden! We have just come back from a wonderful holiday, the apartment was fabulous and so well equipped...we had everything we needed. It was everything you said it was .The directions were so easy to follow and we appreciated having Martha on call should we need anything HS

We loved the apartment! There were 3 large bedrooms - comfortably sleeps 6 and very suitable for children. Air conditioning which can be adjusted to each room and made living in the high heat of summer very comfortable indeed.
The kitchen and living room were well furnished and comfortable and well kept and cleaned - the linen was changed efficiently mid stay and the beach towels were also provided (lovely large ones too!) which was an added bonus for packing...

The pool was absolutely fabulous - large and cool and very well maintained - it was a shared pool but there was rarely anyone else there so it felt like our own private pool as it was just a walk accross the grass from the apartment for us! Kids loved it..

5 minute walk down to the beach - 10 back! handy for all local amenities but away from the noise and bustle of the main drag. The beaches were beautiful and endless and the restaurants, bars and cafes were endless and all seemed good and pretty friendly.

Mojacar Playa is a great location for families and couples alike and has everything you could want for on a holiday (the water park was only a 10 min drive/bus away and was good fun too). I would definitely recommend this apartment to others, although if you or your children like to meet others when away, it wasn't in the best location for socialising as it was mainly residential not holiday lets, but this was not an issue for us particularly and there is always the Kimerick accross the street which seemed very social... we had a great holiday and would go back with pleasure.

My husband and I and our 2 year old son stayed in this villa in March 2008. My husband needed to be near to a motorcycle race track as he races bikes and I needed to be near to a beach/beaches, playgrounds and cafes as I was looking after our 2 yr old without a car while my husband was away racing. The apartment was very well equiped with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and English television and a DVD player and very comfortable with everything you need. It was very quiet and we were not bothered by noise from any other apartments. My 2 year old loved the caveroom. The patio was lovely on warm evenings to have a BBQ or just eat outside. The location is fabulous and only 5 minutes from golden sandy beaches and lovely restaurants. You can easily manage without a car as there is a supermarket 5 minutes walk away and beaches and playgrounds on the beachfront. We found some lovely restaurants on the seafront and my son enjoyed the fantastic "playgrounds" that are affluent along the promenade. If you do have a car it only takes about half an hour to drive into the mountains or along a coastal road to secluded beaches and little villages. We loved it so much (so much so that my second son was conceived in this apartment!), and will definately be returning again this summer. Very child friendly. Petts Wood, Kent, UK

I have recently returned from above property in Mojacar. The directions provided by the owner were very good with no problems parking at apartment. The property was as described it was very clean and tidy. It has three bedrooms one of the rooms would only be suitable for young children. The courtyard is great for eating in with lovely flowers and a lemon tree. Kitchen had everything we needed. We had some ploblems with the television due to bad storm but the owners rep. Martha came very promptly to sort this matter out. The pool is lovely the owner provides sun chairs to use at the pool. The beach is great about 10 minutes walk. Driving is easy in Mojacar but the buses will take you everywhere at only 1 euro. Lots of different restaurants along the playa prices very good. Take the bus up to the Pueblo worth a visit. We had a lovely stay in Pueblo del Cantel and would recommend it for a nice peaceful holiday. Co Dublin Ireland

My husband and I and our two boys aged 7 and 5 really enjoyed our stay. The accommodation was spacious and well maintained. The pool was very relaxing as very few people used it - one down side you are not allowed to use sun loungers or chairs! The apartment is close to all of the restaurants and shops and to the lovely beaches of Mojacar. A resource book with recommendations for places to eat and to see was provided in the apartment and we found this great. A short trip by car will bring you up to the mountains. I would definitely recommend it!

This is a fantastic property, fully equipped and with every comfort. It's like a villa with a garden, patio and everything for the beach and pool, which you mostly have exclusive use of. All shops, bars and beach are a short stroll away. The bar opposite is great but not noisy at night, so just right. We took a family group and had a lovely time, thanks to having everything we needed G.M.
