This lovely typical Canarian style villa is set in a pretty, tree lined and private garden in the lower part of Los Mojones. Located on the upper level is a full bathroom and the master bedroom which has one double and one single bed and opens to a spacious balcony overlooking the pool. All the other accommodation is on the lower level including two shower rooms and two twin rooms, one with doors to the terrace. and a further family bedroom with a double and a single bed. The dual aspect lounge/diner is spacious and comfortable. There is a large covered terrace with built in barbecue, table and chairs. Perfect for ‘al-fresco’ dining. The 8 x 4 metre private pool is a comfortable 1.4 metres deep all over and is surrounded by astro turf with lots of space for sunbeds. The secure gated entrance has parking for two cars. The villa now has internet access available at just 20 euros per week. This is a very attractive, secluded villa located in a quiet residential area and will appeal to families and couples who like a bit of space. We find it is equally as popular with two occupying as ten. Great for a large family get together. Now with internet available!!

The Lanzarote Region

Lanzarote is situated just 70 miles off the coast of Africa and is the most easterly of the Canary Islands. The island is 37 miles (60km) long and 12 miles (20 km) wide, making it the fourth largest island in the Canaries.

Lanzarote enjoys a mild dry climate with average daytime temperatures ranging from about 21°C in January to 29°C in August. Annual rainfall is just 140mm (5.5 inches). This makes Lanzarote the perfect year-round destination.

As with the other Canary Islands, Lanzarote is Volcanic in origin. Due to the recent eruptions during the 18th and 19th Centuries, many parts of Lanzarote appear to be from another world, often described as 'lunar' or 'Martian', so much so that parts of 'Planet of the Apes' were shot here. The dry climate (and lack of erosion) means that the Volcanic Landscape appears much as it did just after the eruptions.

Amongst the many stunning Volcanic features of Lanzarote is the longest Volcanic Tunnel in the world, the Atlantida Tunnel, which is over 7 km long and includes the La Cueva de los Verdes and Jameos del Agua.

Despite the Volcanic nature of the island, Lanzarote has several beautiful white beaches such as at Playa Blanca and Papagayo.

Local authority regulations on the amount and style of development mean that there is no billboard advertising and no high rise buildings in Lanzarote (with the exception of the Grand Hotel in Arrecife)

Puerto del Carmen Area

The Old Town is set around the harbour and offers a huge selection of excellent restaurants with freshly caught fish often a speciality. A variety of boat trips can be taken from the harbour including fishing trips and pleasure cruises. The area is popular for strolling and a popular pastime is watching the men on the water front playing boules in the evenings. The Old Town is well served with shops and the new Biosfera shopping centre hosting such well known names as Zara and Timberland is a pleasure to visit – a good place to cool off on a hot day because it is air conditioned.

You are only a 20 minute walk to Peurto del Carmen, this lively resort has a beach road with shops, bars and restaurants along one side and a wide beach of golden sand with a promenade along the other. There are sunbeds and umbrellas for hire for those who wish to relax or water sports for those who seek more activity. A variety of sports including tennis and squash are available at the sports centre near the Fariones Hotel. The Puerto del Carmen beaches fly the Blue Flag awarded by the EEC for cleanliness and lack of contamination.

Getting There

There are daily flights to Lanzarote with Aer Lingus from Dublin and Cork. This airport is well serviced by charter airlines also.

Car hire is relatively cheap in Lanzarote. A hire car is the best option for discovering the remote wilderness regions. It only takes about 40 minutes to cross the entire island from North to South by car, and about 25 minutes across.
