Estrela da Luz is a luxurious holiday resort situated 6km west of Lagos in Portugal’s Western Algarve. Opened in March 2005, Estrela da Luz is set in the quaint and friendly village of Praia da Luz. Set against a backdrop of stunning beach and sandstone cliffs, this small, cobble-stoned village features a selection of restaurants and bars to suit all tastes.
This very spacious apartment features under-floor heating, air conditioning, electric shutters and satellite tv. There are two bedrooms, (double room with an en suite bathroom and a twin bedded room with the use of a separate bathroom), in addition to a fully fitted kitchen and spacious living/dining area. The balconies off the master bedroom and living/dining room boast beautiful ocean views.
The apartment itself is conveniently located in the central block (D) of the resort providing easy access to the upper pool deck via the main entrance to the block, or the lower pool deck via the apartment basement. This makes it very convenient for popping back up to the apartment when it comes to getting things for the family. Importantly, it is positioned at the quieter end of block D ensuring guests have a restful holiday.
Guests can also avail of free internet (wifi) access.
Parking is available underground, and the apartment is accessible via elevator and stairs.
The complex has TWO OUTDOOR SWIMMING POOLS together with a paddling pool for children and an INDOOR HEATED POOL WITH SAUNA AND JACUZZI. The resort includes a state of art Fitness Centre, complete with a gymnasium, aerobics studio, and a Health & Beauty Centre.
There is a multipurpose sports area suitable for football, volleyball and basket ball, and professional coaching can be booked for the tennis court.
Within the resort are TWO DINING AREAS. The informal, but lively, Hugo Beaty Bar and Café which serves light meals, tapas, cold beer and an extensive selection of wines and cocktails. In addition, the Poolside Bar offers a range of snacks, tasty bites and drinks throughout the day.
The village of Praia da Luz offers numerous excellent restaurants and bars, and a supermarket all within walking distance of the resort.
Kids’ Activities Club
During the summer EDL offers a range of children’s activities and sports for children aged 4-12 years 5 mornings per week. The emphasis is on FUN and depending on their age, the children will take part in activities such as arts and crafts and organised team games. Advance bookings are essential.
Leisure activities in the surrounding area are plentiful. GOLFERS are spoilt for choice with three excellent courses, BOAVISTA, PARQUE DA FLORESTA AND PALMARES, all less than 15 minutes drive away with the latter considered one of the most scenic in the Algarve. Water sports enthusiasts are also well served with fishing, sailing, scuba diving, water skiing and surfing available.

The Algarve Region
The Algarve is the most southern region of Portugal and it's one of Europe's favourite holiday destinations well known for glorious year round sunshine and excellent sandy beaches. These vary from secluded coves with amazing cliffs to vast stretches of golden sand all sea washed by the fresh and clear Atlantic ocean. Inland you will find quaint villages barely touched by tourism. Traces of the Moorish presence are still evident in the local architecture. The orange groves and blossoming almond trees add colour to this fertile region in contrast with the whitewashed traditional houses. Due to the mild nature of the weather the Algarve is ideal for many outdoor sporting activities such as water sports, golf in one of the numerous world-class golf courses, tennis, horse riding, and many more. The Algarve is known for its cosmopolitan nightlife with many bars and clubs and has numerous waterside restaurants serving fresh seafood.
Praia da Luz Area
Praia da Luz is a beach destination in the Algarve, at just under one hours easy drive from Faro airport.
The development of the town is mostly low rise apartments and villas of all sizes, and the facilities are aimed at family holidays. There is a great variety of family friendly restaurants and bars, good supermarkets and all the amenities for a complete holiday.
There is a beautiful sandy beach perfect for sun bathing and water sports, and Luz beach sports the European blue flag indicating clean sand and clean water.
For golfers there are 4 golf courses within 5 - 20 minutes drive, and there are daytrip coaches from Luz to the water parks and dolphin park.
Luz is just 8 minutes west of the larger historic town of Lagos which provides great sightseeing, plenty of shopping, good night life, and a large established marina.
Getting There
You can get flights to Faro from a large number of European Airports. If you are flying from the UK then there are around 20 different Airports offering regular, scheduled flights to Faro from the UK from 10 different UK based Airlines.
In the Republic of Ireland, Aer Lingus flies regularly from both Cork and Dublin, whilst RyanAir also offers regular services from Dublin. Flight time is around 2 hours and 30 minutes.
One of the great benefits of traveling between Ireland or the UK and Portugal is that the time zones are the same throughout the year.
Car Hire is available at Faro Airport, or a taxi to the resort can be arranged on your behalf (€80 one way).
