The Costa Dorada is a wonderful area with great scenery, fantastic beaches, lovely traditional Spanish villages to explore and interesting nature reserves and wildlife sancturies. The Ebro Delta is a large area of wetland, rich in wildlife including flamingos! and surrounded by almond and olive trees. You can choose from a great number of activities here and will have a great holiday here whatever you choose to do.

 

L'Ampolla Area

L’Ampolla is a fishing village on the edge of the Ebro Delta. It has been a favourite with mainland Europeans for over four decades, attracted by its quiet charm, sandy beaches, mountain backdrops and of course the delta. Famous among the Catalans for its seafood, it is characterised by the elegant charm of the harbour and a relaxed pace of life. For the adventurous, there is boat hire and fishing, a gym to work out, bicycle hire to cycle into the delta, a municipal swimming pool with the mountains as back-drop, free municipal tennis courts, a summer season nightclub and lots of sandy beaches where beach volley ball and sun tans are the order of the day.

Within a short stroll from Les Oliveres by the cliff top pathway (the GR 7 is way marked in red and white parallel lines) is the ‘old world’ resort of Cap Roig. Before you reach the famous Cap Roig beach, you will walk past or perhaps stop off for lunch at restaurant Peralles. Shaded by the pine trees and with views off the Mediterranean and the delta, “Peralles” offers really traditional Catalan food with a wonderful variety of local salads. If you are not quite hungry, then continue down to the beach and have a dip and afterwards you may find snuggled into the cliff at the far end of the beach Pepe’s Chiringuito. This restaurant overlooks the beach and has stunning and sweeping vistas of the coastline. “El Chiringuito” specializes in seafood and the mussels and cockles in ‘salsa Marinera’ are particularly recommended. You can sit under the ‘Moreras’ ( a tree specially grown and pruned to provide shade) and dine or perhaps just sip a cool glass of wine or cold beer and at the same time watch the kids play on the beach or swim in the sea. Also in Cap Roig is “Pizzeria Vanesa”. It is a spacious open plan restaurant with tables outside, offers really good pizzas and pasta, it is cheap and kids love it. It makes dining out under the olives trees a really affordable experience.

 

Getting There

Fly to Reus airport serviced by Ryanair. Les Oliveres is an easy 30minute drive from the airport. You
can also fly into Barcelona airport which is located 1 1/2 hours away.

Les Oliveres is positioned on beautifully landscaped gardens and the property has its own garden (not enclosed) and overlooks the swimming pool. Table and 6 chairs provided for outdoor dining.

 

Rental Details

We use a local management company in L'Ampolla who will meet you on arrival in L'Ampolla and who are on hand during your stay should you require anything. We also provide a welcome basket on arrival for our guests with some local delicacies and surprises.

The management company will also provide a comprehensive information pack on the area with discount vouchers in selected restauraunts, maps, information as well as recommendations for day trips to places of interest. At no extra cost. They can arrange family adventure activities and you can just ask locally on arrival.

The property is finished to a very high standard and is laid out over 3 floors. The first floor features a fully equipped galley style kitchen and large living room opening onto the terrace. There is also a downstairs toilet. The second floor has two bedrooms and a bathroom with shower. The first bedroom has twin beds and has doors onto a large balcony with lovely sea views. The second bedroom has bunk beds and another single bed, this room is ideal for children.
The third floor features the master bedroom with ensuite and has doors onto another balcony with views over the Delta.

A cot is available upon request.

Dear Suzanne,

We had a great time at the house. The hotel is beautiful we used the indoor pool and tennis court alot , the grounds are beautiful . We had a lovely barbecue and had a relaxing stay. We will definitely go back. You obviously have the nicest house of all on the complex , the views are excellent , you should have many people coming back. Overall very impressed , we'll be back again.
